Hi All!!!
We've arrived safe and sound:)
Checked in with the school services and the kids have not
been placed yet:( We have to wait to hear from them, as they are
'on holiday' and may not hear until after school has actually STARTED!
They have to see if kids have moved away, etc and cleared a spot for them.
The younger kids' school that we'd like is only 3 blocks away - but we'll have
to wait on vacancies. Trying to get phone and internet set up but no one actually seems
to know much about this! We are at the libarary now, using their computers.
Dottie, our Uncle's friend's sister (!) has been an absolute ANGEL, driving us to the
grocers, setting us up with plates and cups, pots and pans, etc. Took 3 hours at the grocers
yesterday - I'm sure she went home and collapsed, as well as rang up her sister to grouse
about this needy family!!! Actually, she's so kind, I'm sure she did nothing of the sort.
Wanted this first post to be clever and witty but no time for that!
Will be witty later:)
Did manage to tube it downtown and see Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and eat a ridiculously
expensive fast food meal (about £40 = 80 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Wow. Soup at home tonight!
Much love to all, pass the word on that we're here and safe and happy:)

Phew! Glad to hear you are getting your bearings. Sounds like you have started off running what with a trip to Big Ben already and grocery shopping. Last time I was in an English grocery, I had a ball! All those great products, especially the cheeses and meats. Check out Harrods grocery market. Incredible! Are you planning a trip to Hampton Court? Amazing place. History, history, history. I am so jealous.
Sorry to hear the kids' school placements are up-in-the-air. With Dottie in your corner, I'm certain all will work out fine. Let us know how Jer's placement works out.
Yes, fast food over there is expensive. Try picking up picnic type food at Marks and Spence. We did that several times after turning out our pockets for a Pizza Hut pizza. (Albeit, it was the best Pizza Hut pizza I've ever eaten.)
Love the digs! I agree with your friend that squatter rights prevail. Hope you made a mad dash for the attic. If not, I just read that J.K. Rowlings was seen working on her new novel in a Scottish cafe. It worked for her so you might want to check out the local cafes and pubs.
Take care a love to all. Auntie
Best to you, Jerry, and the kids.
Great News!! How was the flight? Kids adjusting OK so far?
Just FYI, Marks and Spencer is also known as "Marks & Sparks."
Hope you get your computer connection established soon. Phones, too. Gotta keep in touch.
All is well here.

I'm am So Happy you arrived safe. Hope the rain let's up a bit for you. How many shots do the kids have to get!?! Yips. Any comments from the children would love to hear.
HI Auntie and Unk, Matt and..??
Anonymous, you can sign your name below your note;)
Thanks for the warm wishes!
The flight was fine but not much rest was had - maybe we were too excited, maybe it's b/c our seats only reclined to 87 degrees;)
As far as I know, the kids need no shots - they had their standard ones at home before we left. I will try to have kids write on here too, but right now they are all sleeping while I slipped out to the library!
ttfn!
Bev
